The growing influence of food corporates on the global food system has raised public and media concerns about sustainability in relation to hunger, obesity, GMOs, resource depletion and land grabbing. Responding to these concerns, major food companies are investing in new technologies, measurement tools, certification schemes and social reporting, both to deliver performance improvements and to gain the hearts and minds of consumers. As contribution to the process of building the EU FOOD 2030 initiative and drawing on the results of an EU-funded research project on the sustainability and value of global and local food systems, experts will reflect on the key challenges, gaps and opportunities. The audience will be encouraged to contribute and engage with the debate through a voting system.
