Stephanie Glendinning is Professor of Civil Engineering in the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at Newcastle University. Stephanie is involved in several interdisciplinary projects associated with solving problems of integrated sustainable and resilient infrastructure. Additionally she is leading a team at Newcastle who have developed a business case, design concept and research agenda for the new centre for ‘Digitally enabled Urban Sustainability’ on an urban regeneration in Newcastle city.  Key elements of the centre are an urban observatory, decision theatre, digital civics and cloud computing centres and smart grid lab.  The aim is to use the ‘city as a lab’ with the aim of enabling evidenced based decision making on a systems-scale in the city and to develop the discipline of urban science.  Stephanie is research Director of the spin-out company Electrokinetics Ltd.
