Prof. Kevin McGuigan of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) develops water treatment technology interventions for use in developing countries against waterborne disease. He specialises in coordinating multi-disciplinary field studies to evaluate these appropriate technologies and is currently running field projects in Ethiopia, Malawi, S. Africa and Uganda. He is coordinator of the EU Horizon2020 WATERSPOUTT project where 18 organisations from 12 European and African countries collaborate to design, develop and trial large volume solar water disinfection systems. He is Vice-Dean of the RCSI School of Medicine and Associate Professor in the Dept. of Physiology & Medical Physics.
