Alberto Orgiazzi is a postdoc researcher at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. He is the lead author of the first ever Global Soil Biodiversity Atlas. His research has focused on the study of soil biodiversity by means of DNA-based approaches, and the identification and mapping of potential threats to soil biodiversity in order to start developing conservation strategies for organisms living below ground.
