Date / time: 10.45 – 11.15 on Wednesday, 27 July 2016
Location: Press Conference Room (Central 3&4), Manchester Central

Sharing science is at the roots of responsible research and innovation, as an active endeavour that needs tools, methods, political will, imagination, curiosity, evaluation and reward. It fosters a dynamic and forward looking practice of science but also conveys the values of research and innovation throughout society.

France will host the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) in 2018 and Toulouse becomes the European City of Science. Supported by the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research, the Université Fédérale Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées works in partnership with the Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, Toulouse Métropole and the Toulouse Chamber of Commerce and Industry to create a unique and memorable event around the motto "Sharing Science: Towards New Horizons".

ESOF 2018 will provide an open platform for demonstrating and debating science and will constitute a showcase for European research and innovation at all levels.

On behalf of the ESOF 2018 team, Dr Anne Cambon-Thomsen, the ESOF 2018 Champion, will present plans for the 8th edition of ESOF in Toulouse, where science is found everywhere from underground to space.

Toulouse organizes ESOF 2018

Strasbourg, 1st December 2014

EuroScience is proud to announce that the EuroScience Open Forum will be hosted in July 2018 in Toulouse, France. The Université Fédérale Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées, together with an impressive number of national and regional institutions and partners, has worked hard to put together a very convincing bid. Jointly with the University, the Région Occitanie, Toulouse Métropole and the Toulouse Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie, demonstrated an enthusiastic collective mobilization during a marathon site visit by members of the ESOF Supervisory Board. The rich history and architectural heritage of Toulouse, rooting back to the Antiquity, blends perfectly with the modern city turned towards Europe, with high technology industries collaborating with European partners. The Région Occitanie  is a leading region of France in terms of spending on research, and offers a comprehensive research portfolio covering all disciplines and providing a scientific environment of great international repute with strong links with the industry, that ranks among the highest in France in terms of scientific production. We are convinced that Toulouse will add its name as another major European city to the European Cities of Science that have organized ESOF since 2004 in Stockholm.
